Q

What types of tropical-looking plants grow well in our region?

I purchased several palms and a dracaena, but after a week of abnormally cold temperatures (mid-40s in early May), they seem to have gone downhill fast. What types of other plants can I incorporate near the pool (full sun)that LOOK tropical but will do well outdors in our summer climate?

Answer

Most tropical plants will grow in our area.  Plants should not be put outside until the temperature is consistently warm.  It is safer to wait until June to put the plants outside..
