(cultivars: Pennsylvania Golden and Mango) in big (2 ft.) terracotta planters in my back yard. The trees are about 3 feet high and seem healthy. This is going to be their first winter since I planted them this spring. Would you recommend that I: a) bring them indoors for the winter,b) protect them in some way, or c) leave them outside? I live in South Philadelphia - zone 6B.
The paw paw trees are hardy and should be left outside. If they have not been mulched, a layer of mulch would help prevent moisture loss. However terracotta planters may crack in a very cold winter.
