What do I do with paper white bulbs after they are done blooming? Can they be saved for the next year?

After they bloom throw them out. I have tried for years to get them to bloom in subsequent years to no avail, and I have a greenhouse. They will leaf out, but no bloom. Every reference I have checked advises the same, to discard them after the initial bloom. Sorry.
