Daffodils and most spring-blooming bulbs are a welcome relief from the doldrums of winter, but destory the attractiveness of flower beds with foliage that lasts into summer. It is necessary to let the foliage grow until it turns yellow to keep the bulbs healthy. You can hide it by planting perennials or annuals in between the bulbs as long as they don't grow too fast. Echinacea, the purple cone flower is excellent in hiding the foliage and doesn't grow too fast in the spring to block the sun on daffodils.
