Please recommend plants or shrubs to stabilize a bank. Sun at midday, morning and evening shade. Soil seems on the dry side.

If there is a great deal of sun which it sounds like there is, there are many kinds of junipers that work well as groundcovers. Look for creeping varieties such as Juniperus  chinensis procumbens nana or Juniperus horizontalis varieties 'Blue Rug' or 'Bar Harbor'. There are many others, either Google groundcover junipers or ask at your local nursery.
