Prunus sargentii help

I received a PHS Prunus sargentii street tree in November. It was doing great until the recent heat wave. I watered it almost every day (5 gallons in a Tree Gator), but the leaves are all brown and shriveled and I'm worried it's dead. What can I do?

It sounds as if it was overwatered. Even though it was excruciatingly hot this summer, it also rained a lot and some plants have died as a result of too much water as the roots need oxygen as well as moisture.
