Can you recommend organic controls for deterring Harlequin bugs?

These critters have certainly become horrible invaders in our gardens.  Here are some strategies you might try:

  • Hand-picking
  • Use a combination of insecticidal soap and pyrethrum  to control harlequin beetles.  Safer brand makes a product called EndAll that they claim works.  See the link (below) for more information.  
  • Another strategy to deal with harlequin beetles is to plant trap crops around your vegetable plants if that is what you are growing. See the link below from the University of Florida – it mentions how to do that, and also gives  general information on this pest.
