What are the dates of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s first flower show?

I am compiling a list of garden historic dates. I’m hoping you can tell me the date(s) of PHS’s 1829 show?

Answer

The first exhibition of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society open to the public was held at the Masonic Hall on Chestnut Street, Philadelphia on June 6, 1829. (cited from James Boyd's A History of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society 1827-1927, p. 43).

This was the first public flower show held in America. The link below takes you to a digitized copy of Boyd, p. 43.  -- Janet Evans
