I have recently started an environmental club at my elementary school. Do you have activities or resources that would be helpful to my students?

Answer

Since you live in suburban Philadelphia, you may want to sign up to be a Green City Teacher. The Green City Teachers training program is designed to provide educators with the skills necessary to integrate horticultural and environmental education into curricula, after-school programs and service-learning projects, and to help students appreciate the role of nature in their lives. Click here to learn more about this program (the link is to a past event, but the information is still relevant).

You may also be interested in getting your kids ready to participate in the Junior Flower Show. (We’re going through a name change; the event was called KidsGrow Expo and it’s now called the Junior Flower Show).

And finally, I want to draw your attention to the wealth of online information we have for gardening with children. We’ve created several online subject guides to this topic, featuring “best of” information including books, websites and sample curricula for gardening with children.
