Can you suggest a plant that will thrive in an office with no natural light?
Answer
An office environment has several short comings that need to be considered when choosing houseplants: limited unnatural light, low humidity, cool temperature during off hours and frequent overwatering. A plant that handles all of these well is the cast-iron plant, Aspidistra elatior. If watering is infrequent and closely monitored, the ZZ Plant, Zamioculcas zamiifolia will do well, just don’t overwater it. ( a rule of thumb for watering this plant is to water it on major US holidays. Of course your office will be closed on these days, so you adjust your schedule accordingly. But that's how infrequent the watering needs to be with this plant).
Aloe plants will also do well if not overwatered.
Improve the humidity a bit and the Peace Lily, Aglaonema sp.; the Boston Fern, Nephrolepis exultata; and philodendrons are good choices.
All of these will tolerate low light.
