Why does my climbing hydrangea never blossom?

I planted a climbing hydrangea 4 years ago. It has never blossomed. What can I do?

Answer

Climbing Hydrangeas take a long time to get established, up to seven years. Be patient. Do not prune until later in the summer, since they bloom on last years growth. Try a high bloom fertilizer, something with 60 in the middle, i.e., x-60-y in the spring after they leaf out.
