How do you divide daylillies?

Answer

Spring and fall are good times to divide daylillies. If you have two gardening forks or pitch forks place them back to back in the middle of a clump and push the handles apart to separate the roots. If this fails or you don't have garden forks, just use a sharp spade and cut the plant in two or three pieces depending on how big the clump is. You can cut the foliage back at the same time. They are tough plants and will recover easily.
