What types of pear trees (for fruit) do well in Philadelphia area gardens?
Do experts have special tips for planting young pear trees, such as do they self-pollinate?

Any pears from a reliable nursery should work well. Be sure they are properly planted. You do need two different types for best fruiting. The major problem is a lack of pollinators.
