How do you recommend handling boxwood blight? What can be done to minimize damage?

Answer

Since the fungus has been identified here less than two years ago, treatment has not been established. Remove infested plants immediately, including dropped leaves. Quarantine new plants. Some growers are spraying different fungus treatments each times they spray until a successful treatment has been identified. There are some resistant varieties that can be planted.

Once established, the fungus moves rapidly to other plants and persists in the soil for a long time.

The best avoidance is constant monitoring and rapid removal of infested plants. Remove dropped leaves and sterilize pruners between cuts.
