Can nut trees be espaliered?

Is it possible to espalier Pecan trees? I've searched online and all information I find is on fruit trees.

Answer

Dear Ken:  Technically you can espalier  nut trees; however, nut trees tend to be quite large so that you will have your hands full keeping it espaliered in a reasonably sized framework.  Also, in pruning as much as you will have to, you may find that you are not getting many nuts.  Other plants like fruit trees and small shrubs are more successful espaliers.
