Q. I need to replant my iris and see that it's best to plant in the fall. Would it be alright to dig them up now? Can they be stored until fall

I need to replant my iris and see that it's best to plant in the fall. Would it be alright to dig them up now? Can they be stored until fall (and how, if so?) or should I just replant them now?
They were in a neglected area, very overgrown and too congested, and have quit blooming, don't look well.
Thank you for your help.

Answer

You can dig up the iris now but be sure they do not dry out completely.
