Should I deadhead asclepias curassavica (bloodflower) in my butterfly garden for continued bloom

If I need to deadhead, will removing the green seed pods work or must this be done before the pods form?

Answer

All plants want to reproduce.  Deadheading the bloom before seed production encourages more bloom.  So, yes, cut the bloom before the seed pod can be produced in order to have more blooms.  Toward the end of the growing season you may want to allow the pods to develop to encourage self-seeding.
