How much shade will a Jim Dandy or Sprite winterberry take?

I have a spot which gets almost all day shade and then the hot, late afternoon sun. Would a Jim Dandy winterberry accept those conditions? I have a sunnier place for my Sprite.

Answer

Ilex verticillata 'Jim Dandy' is a male plant used primarily as a pollinator. Although it will not grow berries, it is important that it develop many flowers to pollinate the female plants. Therefore, more exposure to sun results in more pollen and, therefore, more berries on the female plants. It should be given a lot of sun.
