Can you suggest a home remedy non-chemical solution to control aphids?

Here's a home remedy recipe to control aphids (courtesy of the American Orchid Society's Orchids, June 2014 issue):

1 onion finely chopped

2 cloves of garlic finely chopped

1 tsp. liuid dish soap

2 cups of water

Blend in a blender and strain out pulp. Pour liquid into a hand-held sprayer. Will need to reapply regularly.
