My Viburnum had mites in June -- what to do?

The picture is a Viburnum that had mites in June, thus I applied Ortho Bug B Gon. It improved 25 %. Is there anything else I can do & will the mites reappear next year?

Answer

Mites on a Viburnum can be treated with a miticide or horticultural oil. Use the highly refined version of the oil in summer. Bug-be-gone is an insecticide and is not labeled for mites.

You can apply the oil in late winter, covering all sides of the stems. In summer cover both sides of the leaves and all sides of the stems.
