When is it best to trim an azealea bush?

Answer

The best time to prune azaleas is right after they bloom. Flower buds have usually formed by now (September) so pruning in fall or winter will eliminate some flowers in the spring. If they have become very overgrown, they can be cut down to a foot high  in winter or early spring. They will put out new growth in the spring and blooms will occur eventually it may not be for another year. Look a the "subject guides" on this website as they may give you more information.
