Q. I bought a large (2015 flower show) palm tree at Meadowbrook Farm's member plant sale. Not sure how soon I should move it outdoors.
I think the palm tree is probably adjusting to having been moved around. It can be moved outdoors, out of direct sunlight, when the weather gets reliably warmer. Giving it a shot of fertilizer may perk it up, and you should continue to fertilize it once a month throughout the summer, and water it well, making sure it drains. You can pick off any leaves that are yellowed, but don't prune unless an old branch dies naturally. Pinching tips from the top or cutting new fronds below the point of attachment to the trunk will eliminate new growth.
