I need to remove many irises that have rotted. Can I plant new healthy iris in that same soil?

Answer

It is not a good gardening practice to plant tuberous plants in a site where previous tuberous plants such as Iris have been planted and rot occurred. The soil should be turned over and a delay of several years should occur before replanting the site with tuberous plants. You may wish to test the site with a few plants before planting the site fully.
