We have tiny fern like things coming up in our asparagus patch. Unlike the fern that comes from an asparagus stalk, these start as fern with no asparagus stalk involved. Are they asparagus? Should be leave them or pull them with the other weeds. Thanks for your help!

Answer

You have asparagus seedlings growing from seed from your female asparagus plants. They should be weeded out unless you want to expand your asparagus patch. In that case, you can transplant them to a new asparagus bed, but expect to wait three years for them to grow large and strong enough to be harvested.
