Where do I find a community gardening plot?

I recently moved to Philadelphia and I would like to secure a local community gardening plot to grow vegetables. How do I find a community garden?

Answer

There is a Philadelphia community gardening locator map on the PHS web site. Use the map to help you find a community garden near you.

Another map of community gardens lives on the website of the American Community Gardening Association. This is a database for the entire U.S. Enter your zip code into the search box for gardens near you. Note that this database also includes other kinds of gardens, not just community gardens.

ACGA Find-a-Garden database.

Also, be sure to check your local library, coffee shop, church, community center or food market bulletin boards for information on locations of community gardens. Check social media sites like Nextdoor.

Hope this helps.
