How do I care for my "paph." orchid? It was a Christmas present and looks like a large yellow lady slipper. Beautiful!

"Paph. Golddollar" (primulinum "Green Elf x armeniacum) is the full name on the tag.

Answer

This orchid is one that does well on a window sill with good morning light or fairly good afternoon sunlight.  Water weekly by putting in the sink and letting the water drain through.  While there, it would love to have its leaves and any exposed roots sprayed with water.  Fertilize with ¼ strength fertilizer once a week, stopping the fertilizer during the short winter months.  The plant should thrive and rebloom again a year from when it bloomed the previous year.
