I am a beginning gardener who has just moved to Philadelphia. How do I learn about gardening here?

Answer

You are fortunate to live in a city with an excellent horticultural library -- here at PHS, the McLean Library is your first stop in learning how to garden. While you do not have to be a member to visit the library, you would need to be a PHS member to borrow books, including over 5,000 eBooks. See what's new in the library.   A PHS Membership will also allow you to sign up for PHS programs at a discounted rate, and you will learn about these lectures, trips and workshops through our award-winning magazine GROW and eNews.

Be sure to visit our website to browse through subject guides we've created on small space gardening, container gardening and gardening for beginners. These guides include recommended books and websites.

Hope this information will help get you started.
