live in Doylestown, Pa., are planted in full sun, have good drainage, are automatically watered three times a week, are not crowded, are mulched with triple-ground hardwood every year

Dear Ruth: Is the watering system an overhead sprinkling system?? The water may be knocking down the flower heads. If not, watch that you are not overwatering or overfertilizing.
