Can pistachio shells (unsalted) be used as mulch?
As a city gardener, I have some window boxes and a small backyard garden. We get through quite a lot of pistachios, enough at least to mulch the window boxes and other plants in planters. I'd love to find a way to reuse these waste products, but can't find any definitive advice on whether this would be a good idea. Thanks.

Dear Sheri: This is a good use of Pistachio shells but I would suggest breaking them up a little first to improve the appearance--maybe put them in a bag and stamp on them???
