Are the" weed blocking mulch" that you cut holes in to plant your plants really good for the garden and do they really solve the weed problem?

Answer

Fabric mulch is very effective when used in a new bed. It eliminates perennial and annual weeds that grow from seed and most established perennial herbatious weeds. Install according to directions, pinning down the edges and corners. Then cover with about an inch or more of regular mulch to improve appearance and keep the fabric mulch intact. In future years, the mulch cover will start breaking down and weed seeds that blow in or are dropped by birds may germinate, but are easily removed.
