Impatiens is being sold. Are they safe this year? How can I tell if they have downy mildew? If I plant them and they were infected how could I rid the soil of downy mildew?

Answer

Impatiens are still a problem and should not be planted.  The alternatives suggested

are New Guinea impatiens or Sunpatiens.

It is recommended that you do not plant impatiens for several years in an area infested

with downy mildew.
