What are some shade-loving alternatives to impatiens?
I have a lot of shade in my garden. I don’t want to plant impatiens due to Impatiens Downy Mildew. What should I plant?
Answer
Suggestions from University of Maryland Extension service include:
Caladium, Torenia, Coleus ‘Red Ruffles’ and Stained GlassworksTM ‘Trailing Plum’ (shade tolerant cvs) and Begonia.
You should be able to get these plants at Meadowbrook Farm or other local garden centers and nurseries.
