There are several ways that you could obtain a tree in Delaware County, depending on where you are.
First… in the spring, PHS often partners with the Phillies for a free tree giveaway for Phillies fans – so anyone anywhere can get a tree. This program is promoted on the Phillies’ website, and just requires that you go online to register for a tree, which you pick up on a specified day at a specified location (last spring it was the Navy Yard). The trees are of various species, container grown, a nice size and can be planted anywhere.
The second way that Delaware County residents may be able to get trees is through the TreeVitalize Municipalities Subsidized Bare Root Tree offer, which happens in the spring and fall each year and involves a co-pay. This is available only to Tree Tenders groups and municipalities that collaborate with Tree Tenders. These trees must be planted in a front yard or in a public space so that they can be seen as a public amenity. The way that an individual can get a tree is to find out if their municipality or local Tree Tenders group is submitting an application. There are a number of Delaware County groups that have taken advantage of this program, so it would depend on where you plan to plant the tree.
