Can I leave a young magnolia outside during winter?

Answer

I do not know what kind of Magnolia you have, nor if it is a very young plant.  I will assume that it is a kind of Magnolia that is hardy in your area.  It is perfectly safe to leave it outdoors for the winter.  It will be happiest if you can sink it  in its pot into the ground or pack it into leaves for some winter protection.  Also, make sure it does not dry out over the winter.  Check to see that the soil stays moist several times over the winter.  Watering will be difficult if the soil is frozen, so try to check on a warmish day.
