I have a curly willow tree in front of my house that was there when I moved in 10 years ago.

It is about 4 stories high. I love it but just had to replace a sewer pipe because of the roots. Should I take down the tree and replace it with something that is more appropriate for the city/off of the city list?

Answer

The willow is a particularly thirsty tree and the roots will gravitate towards water so it may happen again. It's up to you whether

it's better to keep the tree but know that it may invade the sewer line again or remove the tree and plant a smaller growing one

at a good distance from the pipe.
