I have a 4x8 flower bed that is mostly shady with 1 hr of sun at most. Can your recommend colorful flowers or plants?

Answer

Colorful plants for a shady garden include coleus, begonias, petunias and impatiens. There are many new coleus varities that are large and colorful. Remove any seed heads that develop. The fibrous rooted begonias can be very colorful when planted in mass. The Wave petunias make quite a display in both shade and sun. Impatients are troublesome right now due to a fungus. The New Guinea varieties and Sun Impatients will do for now.
