What is killing off evergreens including boxwoods, firs, and rose bushes?

Just wanted to check to see if you know what is killing off evergreens - boxwoods, dwarf firs, as well as rose bushes. We went on vacation last week and our boxwood, 1 dwarf fir and rose bush were all dead or dying. If you can help that would be great.
