Can I successfully plant bulbs in my large container for spring blooming?

I live in Horsham, PA and have a large planter by my front door that I fill with greens for the winter. I'd like to plant the bulbs in this planter. Will they survive the winter?

Answer

Most hardy spring blooming bulbs should do well in a large outside pot. Plant them in the fall with bulb fertilizer. Follow directions on the package; make sure that they are deep enough for the species you are planting.
