Maple tree was in the shade until the 50-foot oak came down and took 75% of the maple with it.

I'm trying to save the remainder of the tree as I am sentimental. In the fall we will likely move it. Before I dig it up, I will root prune. There is some sort of magic hormone to stimulate roots when transplanting, isn't there?

Answer

Dear Gardener:  There is a product that is used to aid in transplanting.   It is called "Roots".  I hope it is helpful!
