A road paving crew parked their equipment on my lawn and within 2 feet of a 50 + year old Sycamore tree., for several hours.
What damage has the steam roller caused to the tree, and is there any remedy for what probably are crushed roots, or can I expect the tree to die in the next 10 years or so? Also how can the compacted soil be remedied?

The sycamore should survive the damage, they are very tough trees. You could add topsoil over the damaged area and water it well.
