Q. I really love gardening but I don't know where to start. How do I learn how to garden?

I know the difference between an annual & perennial, but little else -- where do I start?

We have a wonderful gardening library for our members here at PHS. Hours: 9:30 -5 M-F. If you are a member you may borrow books and DVDs from the library. (We can mail the books to your home or office for a fee). See also our ever-growing list of subject guides on all kinds of gardening topics.

We also have thousands of eBooks for our members to access at home on their computers and tablets.

If you want to take courses at local colleges and universities or at other horticultural institutions see our Philadelphia Gardening Guide and click on the “organizations” tab. Use this handy guide to learn where to buy plants, what to grow, how to connect with other gardeners and more.
