Suggestion for small tree to be planted on a small property.

Will replace a crype myrtle. Exposure is full sun and exposed

Answer

The crepe myrtle was a good choice particularly with the hot sunny summers that we are having, however if you would like other choices look at amelanchier (sometimes called shadblow as it has white blooms at a time when the shad are running), chionanthus virginicus (common name is fringe tree) or chionanthus retusus, Chinese fringe tree which has more articulated ridges and valleys on the bark. You could also consider crabapples or cherry trees as they are accustomed to full sun.
