Ti plant
Answer
Dear Houseplant Gardener: The offshoot that seems to be struggling is probably adjusting to being separated from the parent plant. If you were able to keep some of the roots attached to the offshoot, it should eventually adjust to the division. General care is to water when the soil top is beginning to dry. It does not need constant heavy moisture, but should be continually moist. Water a little less in the winter. Fertilize with a 1/4 strength fertilizer during the growing season (late spring through summer and early fall). Use normal houseplant potting soil. If the Ti plant that you have is green leaved, keep in moderate to low sunlight. If the foliage is variegate or colored, give it a little more light. That will help develop the color. This is probably called Cordyline Ti Plant, if the roots are white. If not, it is a Dracaena. Both are members of the Agave family and are treated similarly and are often confused.
