Who can I trust to prepare soil properly and replant a shrub bed AND guarantee shrubs live -- at least 2 years.
2015 landscaper Jon Barmby planted native Rhoddies and viburnum that died. He DID NOT honor the guarantee. Soil - wetness - etc not considered properly. I am left with 8 dead shrubs and soil that is suspect. First step I am sending for soil test. Who do I trust to prepare soil and replant? Don't want to throw out money a second time.
Answer
Dear Gardener; Your story is very unfortunate! Ask your neighbors and friends who they have used for landscaping and if they were satisfied with the contractor. If so, call those contractors, get bids and check that amending the soil, if needed, is included. If you are planting in a wet area, selecting the correct plant (Clethra, Red-stemmed Dogwood etc. are wet soil tolerant) is important in addition to amending the soil. Make sure that on the bid, the terms of the guarantee are clearly spelled out.
