Are there good native plants for bulb cover?

I was wondering if you could advise me on good native plants to plant over/around bulbs like tulips and daffodils. I'm wondering a bit about Carex pensylvanica, since I'm hoping to grow a small area of "lawn" of that, but I'd like other, more decorative, suggestions as well.

Answer

Virginia bluebells (Mertensia virginica) are a nice plant that would complement your bulbs. Take into account how much sun or shade you have as well.  Asarum (ginger) is attractive and remains very low to the ground. Foamflower  (Tiarella cordifolia) is a good woodland plant that likes dappled shade and good drainage.
