At the base of my hostas are decayed leaves from the Fall. Should they be removed and replaced with mulch or wood chips

Answer

Jeanette, basically it is best to remove decaying leaves of hosta at their base as it harbors disease.  If it was mulch, compost or ground up leaves it would be ok.  Thanks for contacting PHS.  ep
