Need help containing moso bamboo

other than digging a ditch
liquid control possible

Answer

Moso Bamboo has running roots that develop over the years and become difficult to control. Barriers four feet deep have proven to be ineffective. Moso grows very high and is excellent for construction uses. However, clumping bamboos are better behaved and not invasive.

Round Up might control it if sprayed after the new growth leafs out, but may also damage the rest of the older growth. You can experiment with Round Up with the understanding that it may kill more of the bamboo than you would like.
