I am a member and have a huge crabgrass problem.
Want to know what causes it and how to get rid of it.
Answer
Crab grass is a weed that grows in bare spots in the summer. It grows from seeds that are in most soils. If lawns are well grown with no bare spots, crab grass is usually not a problem. Keep the lawn grass long, about 3 1/2 inches.
In the spring while forsethyia is in bloom, spread a pre-emergent crab grass killer on the lawn. Do not over seed the lawn with grass seed, since it will not germinate. There are also commercial sprays available, but I have not had good experience with them.
