Answer

In 1975 Owen B. Schmidt, owner of F. D. Moore & Sons Nursery received PHS's Distinguished Achievement Award from PHS in 1975.

Here is the citation.

The F. D. Moore & Sons nursery placed ads in some Flower Show programs. Our earliest program of that time period is 1966 and we've digitized it.

Owen B. Schmidt of F. D. Moore & Sons gave a lecture at PHS in 1964

see p. 15 of the 1964 PHS Yearbook here

But I'm not seeing much else. I did see several articles mentioning nurseryman Owen B. Schmidt in the digitized archives of the Deleware County Daily Times. You can access these online with the library card from your local library. If you don't have a card, contact your local library.

Owen B. Schmidt  also received  PLNA’s Hall of Fame Award in 1960, but you probably already found that online.

We do have some seed catalogues from the late 19th century to  early 1900s of a company called Moore & Simon, wholesale growers of seed specialties, for market gardeners and florists, located at 207 Market Street Philadelphia. Is this the same family?

Here is a digitized version of the 1908 catalog

If you wish to see this material please make an appointment to do so by sending an email to mcleanlibrary@pennhort.org

Hope this helps!
