How do I successfully grow Coffea arabica indoors?

What is the best mixture of potting soil? What are the most common micronutrients needed to keep Coffea healthy & happy?

Answer

These plants prefer bright, indirect light, near but not in a window. Temperatures should not go below 65 degrees and the plants should not be near drafts in the winter. Soil should stay moist with good drainage but not soaking wet. They like humidity so water in a pebble tray under the plant(s) creates some humidity. The plant will need less water in the winter than in the summer. Plants grow quickly and usually need repotting once a year. Ultimately they grow to about 6' high. You can fertilize every two weeks with a balanced liquid fertilizer, 1/2 strength every two weeks in spring and summer.
